An exercise in listening carefully to the sounds around us so that we can better attend to them. Mindful Listening can be a great tool to calm ourselves down.
what will students do?
Students will be read the book The Listening Walk by Paul Showers. (A video reading is available below).
Students will practice sitting with a mindful body.
They will hear a chime that will be used to cue their attention and allow them to then focus on sounds around them.
Students will volunteer sounds they were able to hear during a Mindful Minute.
The class will discuss how sounds can impact us and how we can pause throughout our days to pay attention to the sounds in our world.
Students will practice a listening game with Cosmic Kids (video will be started at 2:30).
